It needs twenty years before the tree can start fruiting. Therefore, it is a wild crop. The fruits are being harvested by the local communities and dried in the sun, where the pulp is being used to create a powder. The seeds are being cleaned and dried for oil production. The seed has an incredibly low oil content and is therefore usually being pressed locally. Cold-pressed oil is excellent to use in cosmetic formulations because of the balanced ratio of Oleic and Linoleic high. The Baobab tree can be found in various parts of Africa, it may grow up to 25 meters high and can become more than a thousand years old.
