Product specification

Sesame oil is one of the oldest edible oils, extracted from the seeds of the sesame plant. Although this crop is cultivated worldwide, we primarily source our organic seeds from Africa. The plant can grow up to two meters tall and takes about five months to mature before harvesting, depending on growing conditions.

The seeds develop inside a capsule, which pops open once they are ripe. Several harvesting methods exist, but the most common is cutting the stalks near the base and bundling them to dry. Once dried, the seeds are separated either by hand or using machines. Despite their small size, oil yield can reach 40%.

Oil processing takes place in Europe to ensure quality meets the highest standards. The remaining oil cakes serve as animal feed. We offer three types of organic oil: virgin, roasted, and refined. Virgin oil is cold-pressed and filtered. The roasted variety undergoes high-temperature roasting before pressing, giving it a nuttier taste and darker color. Refined oil is further processed in the Netherlands.

Due to its high smoke point and rich composition of unsaturated acids, this oil is widely used in cooking. It pairs well with Asian dishes and complements sesame seeds. In cosmetics, it serves as an excellent base oil.
